THERMAL STABILITY TEST

The thermal stability test for explosive or pyro- technical packages is performed in a heat cham- ber. The package is kept at 75 C for 48 hours. The behavior of the packed explosive is examined (ignition, explosion, outer package stability, or temperature rise of the package).

12 M DROP TEST

12 m drop test for packed explosives or pyrotech- nical products is carried out at the drop tower equipped with the winch and the impact plate. This test determines whether the package can withstand a free-fall impact without producing any significant fire or explosion hazard.

SINGLE PACKAGE & STACK TEST

The test package(s) are placed on a 3 mm thick steel plate on the ground and covered with sand to a depth of half a metre. The test is performed to determine whether mass explosion is possible.

EXTERNAL FIRE TEST

The volume of the test packages is 150 litres in the external fire test. The packages are placed on a metal grid surrounded on 3 sides by alu- minium sheets. These are checked for possible traces of fragments and hazardous projections. By means of this test the hazard division is determined on the basis of burning, hazardous projections, fragments and other dangerous effects.
